NEED FOR INTIMACY -Jason Cha-
Have you ever wondered and said to yourself, there’s got to be more to this … coming and going to church … why am I not growing in faith? when will God’s word become living? when will loving Him be more real than mere words? when will the Cross become mine? when can I move from looking at God from afar to experiencing His fullness?
There is a way – intimacy with Jesus. We need to move from knowing about Jesus into knowing Him intimately. It is NECESSARY for us to share intimacy with Him. This one thing will equip and sustain us from all stresses and pressures.
Aren’t you tired of hearing that God loves you and not experiencing the power of His affection? Don’t you want a true encounter with Jesus? Don’t you want a relationship with Him - to know Him, to touch Him – that to be the reality?
What is intimacy? It is the personal knowing of the heart of God and the inward communion with His Holy Spirit. IT HAS TO BE PERSONAL – IT HAS TO BE INTIMATE. All that Jesus requires of His children, friends, and disciples are not possible without INTIMACY. You cannot live the surrendered life without an intimate relationship with Jesus. You cannot carry the cross without intimacy. You cannot be humble as Jesus was humble without intimacy. Even He would not have been able to wash the feet of His disciples, absorb humiliation and persecution, and even to die on the cross without His intimate relationship with God.
Heb. 11.6 says, And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. To seek Him is to seek intimacy with Him.
One time Jesus visited Mary, Martha and Lazarus at their home. Martha busied herself in preparing for meal – a great meal, I’m sure. Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus adoring and listening to Him. Martha got fed up and complained. In response, Jesus pointed out that Mary chose what was most important – intimacy with Him.
Doesn’t that sound good, right, and necessary? Will you seek intimacy with Him? That means to be committed to Him (as in a person-to-person relationship). Intimate personal belief is to commit myself spiritually to Jesus and being determined to be dominated by Him alone. It is the vine and the branch connection/relationship that Jesus described. Bearing fruit is always the result of an intimate relationship with Jesus. Let me invite you to seek such intimacy with Him today and everyday.
