He is the Light -Jason Cha-
In 1 John 5-10 God is identified as the “Light,” and there is no darkness in Him at all. What happens when you switch on the light at night? Many years ago, I went to a cave at Sequoia National Park. Towards the end of the tour the guide took us into a large area of the cave which was lit with artificial lights. The guide instructed all the tourists to stand absolutely still. Then he switched off the light. The whole cave became pitch dark. It was the heaviest darkness that I had ever experienced. It was so dark that I could not even see my own hand held a few inches from my eyes. After a few minutes the light was switched back on and a great sense of relief was felt by all of us.
God is the Light into this world that is dark. The truth is that light and darkness do not coexist. When we enjoy fellowship with Him, therefore, we must not continue to walk in darkness. If we are walking in light, we have fellowship with one another and with Jesus Christ whose blood cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin in us we are lying, and we are deceived.
The Scripture is very clear. If we confess and admit our shortcomings, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we continue to say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar.
If the Cross is what it is then why is that it does not seem real? D you feel cleansed from all your sins? Sin, more than anything else, breaks our fellowship with Him. Do you think that sin is an issue or a concern of Jesus? Remember what happened to Ananias & Sapphira? There is no doubt that God takes our sins serious, far more seriously than we do.
Our hope is in Jesus Christ. He indeed is faithful and just. He will forgive us of all our sins and take away all of our unrighteousness. That is a tremendous hope for both you and for me. How else can we survive in this world that is so dark, confused, lost and evil?
